Madrid, 13 de abril 2012 – El centro parroquial se sitúa en una parcela de esquina en zona residencial entre las calles Historiador Dozy y Francisco Azorín, el lateral largo se sitúa frente a una zona verde y el lateral corto frente a edificios de viviendas. El resto de medianeras aún están sin edificar. Al norte y al oeste de la parcela la construcción se retranquea cuatro metros de los linderos. Al norte, toda la superficie del retranqueo que coincide en longitud con la edificación está ocupada por un patio inglés a la altura de la planta sótano, para permitir la iluminación y la ventilación de esta planta y dotarla al mismo tiempo de un patio accesible por el público.

Madrid, April 13, 2012 – The parish center is located on a corner plot in a residential area between Historiador Dozy and Francisco Azorín streets. The extended side is situated in front of a green zone and the lateral side faces residential buildings. The rest of the surroundings are still undeveloped. To the north and west of the plot the structure is set back four meters off the boundaries. On the north side, the entire surface which coincides with the length of the structure is occupied by an English style garden at the height of the basement, to allow light and ventilation and give a courtyard that can be accessible by the public.

Ovogodišnji izbornik je Terrence Riley, međunarodno priznat arhitekt i kustos. Od njegovih značajnih projekata izdvajaju se renovacija i proširenje Muzeja moderne umjetnosti u New Yorku i Muzej umjetnosti u Miamiju. U izborničkoj izjavi ovogodišnjeg Bijenala, Terrence Riley zadaje jednostavnu i neupitnu/dogmatsku, snažnu temu: Arhitekturastvara gradove – gradovi stvaraju arhitekturu.

This year, the chosen chief curator is Terence Riley, internationally reckognized architect and curator. Among his significant projects are leading the renovation and expansion of Museum of Modern Art (New York) and The Miami Art Museum. In his curatorial statement for the 2011 Bienale, Terence Riley conceived a rather simple, axiomatic but powerful theme: Architecture creates cities – Cities create architecture.

Vliegende auto maakt succesvolle testvluchten. Raamsdonksveer, 12 april 2012 – De Nederlandse onderneming PAL-V Europe NV heeft een serie succesvolle testvluchten uitgevoerd met haar vliegende auto: de PAL-V (Personal Air and Land Vehicle). In de afgelopen weken zijn verschillende testvluchten uitgevoerd op de vliegbasis Gilze Rijen. Het gepatenteerde voertuig vliegt in de lucht als een gyrocopter, die opstijgt door een zelf roterende rotor. De stuwkracht wordt geleverd door een opvouwbare propeller op de achterzijde van het voertuig. Op de weg rijdt de PAL-V als een sportauto. Er is geen nieuwe infrastructuur nodig voor de PAL-V, omdat de bestaande wegen en luchthavens gebruikt kunnen worden. De PAL-V kan vrijwel overal opstijgen en landen. Voor opstijgen is een baantje van ongeveer 165 meter genoeg. Dat kan een verharde baan of een grasbaan zijn.

Flying Car Makes Successful Maiden Flight. Raamsdonksveer, April 12, 2012 – The Dutch company PAL-V Europe NV has successfully concluded test flights of its flying car, PAL-V (Personal Air and Land Vehicle). During the past two weeks, several test flights were conducted at the Gilze Rijen Airport (The Netherlands). The patented vehicle flies in the air like a gyrocopter with lift generated by an auto-rotating rotor and forward speed produced by a foldable push propeller on the back. On the road it drives like a sports car. No new infrastructure is required because it uses existing roads and airstrips.

Le gabarit autorisé est mis à profit pour proposer un bâtiment au principe constructif simple et à l'organisation rationnelle, maintenant les qualités du jardin, vers lequel l'ensemble des laboratoires et bureaux se trouvent tourné grâce au système de distribution par galerie sous la coque façade sud (celle-ci permettant d'une part un contrôle optimal de la température, et d'autre part le cadrage précis sur les éléments urbains environnant).

All the laboratories and offices are turned to the garden thanks to the gallery distribution system under the hull south facade (it allows on one hand an optimal control of the temperature, and secondly, the precise frame on the surrounding urban elements).

Strasbourg, April 11, 2012 – Situed on a very small piece of land, the project has been enriched by the resistance from the site to the elements of the mission brief. First of all, this « family crèche » is a living space where the children thrive and a workplace for the staff. The building is the set for this environment in every aspects and needs but also in its poetical dimension.

Tokyo, April 11, 2012 – Located on Mount Kamakura, this site boasts a stunning view overlooking Sagami Bay. The clients, a husband-and-wife couple who had been living in a high-rise condominium in downtown Tokyo, fell in love with the location at first sight, taking an instant liking to the view and the lush green surroundings, and decided to move here. The husband is a keen architecture buff who went on architectural tours throughout Europe to see buildings while he was working in the UK, and decided to commission a new residence with an attached workshop for his wife. Accordingly, we decided to create a modern piece of architecture whose every detail would convey a uniquely Japanese aesthetic to the international guests who would visit.

Saint-Étienne, April 11, 2012 – Born in country, I've been really impressed by simple and rustic forms, tools and landscapes produced by peasants labour. In my work, economy or poverty means poetry. Imago guitares is a woodturned guitars and ukulele maker. This project deals with architecture and construction of stringed instruments. I've designed it by de-constructing guitar in three functional ensemble : strings tension, acoustic resonance and prehension.

For 2012 Milan's international furniture fair, Emmanuel Gallina, French designer based between Milan and Bordeaux , makes of authenticity his main theme.
Milano, April 5, 2012 – With the Tapparelle collection for Colé, he reinterprets the old office furniture using wood shutters. The delicate line and the choice of soft colours make this piece a contemporary and refined collection. This collection will be presented in three different places. With Corteccia, he proposes a kitchen where tradition mixes with modernity. Overed in a wood bark and natural stone, Corteccia offers a warm and convivial space. This taste for craftsmanship shows through the use of natural materials like marble for the Birdy light collection for Forestier which will be in the spotlight at Meetmyproject, or the hand-made Connexions wool carpets for Nodus. Finally, new compositions for Fast's Aikana outdoor couch will be proposed, a modular system already presented last year. .

Montréal, le 5 avril 2012 – Chef de file en conception d'éclairage architectural, le studio montréalais Lightemotion crée un nouveau lieu repère dans le Quartier des spectacles. L'église Saint John the Evangelist occupe une place importante dans la vie des Montréalais pour une triade de raisons, que Lightemotion exprime dans un concept d'éclairage extérieur qui s'adapte aux différentes fonctions de l'église. François Roupinian, le fondateur de Lightemotion, explique : « L'église sert à la fois de lieu de culte, abrite une mission et accueille des concerts. Nous souhaitions donc trouver une solution d'éclairage qui reflète et respecte les trois rôles de l'église. Montreal, April 5, 2012 – One of Montreal's leading architectural lighting designer creates a new landmark for the city's Quartier des Spectacles Church of St. John the Evangelist is an important part of life in Montreal for a tripartite of reasons and Lightemotion has exemplified this with a stunning design for the external illumination of the building that changes with the different uses of the church. Francois Roupinian, founder of Lightemotion, explains: “The church is used as a place of religious worship, a mission and also a venue for concerts and so we felt we should reflect and respect the three different roles within the lighting design. It also sits at the heart of the Quartier des Spectacles and so we wanted to bring attention to this historic building, located amidst the city's wealth of cultural offerings.”
