Raamsdonksveer, 12 april 2012 – De Nederlandse onderneming PAL-V Europe NV heeft een serie succesvolle testvluchten uitgevoerd met haar vliegende auto: de PAL-V (Personal Air and Land Vehicle). In de afgelopen weken zijn verschillende testvluchten uitgevoerd op de vliegbasis Gilze Rijen. Het gepatenteerde voertuig vliegt in de lucht als een gyrocopter, die opstijgt door een zelf roterende rotor. De stuwkracht wordt geleverd door een opvouwbare propeller op de achterzijde van het voertuig. Op de weg rijdt de PAL-V als een sportauto. Er is geen nieuwe infrastructuur nodig voor de PAL-V, omdat de bestaande wegen en luchthavens gebruikt kunnen worden. De PAL-V kan vrijwel overal opstijgen en landen. Raamsdonksveer, April 12, 2012 – The Dutch company PAL-V Europe NV has successfully concluded test flights of its flying car, PAL-V (Personal Air and Land Vehicle). During the past two weeks, several test flights were conducted at the Gilze Rijen Airport (The Netherlands). The patented vehicle flies in the air like a gyrocopter with lift generated by an auto-rotating rotor and forward speed produced by a foldable push propeller on the back. On the road it drives like a sports car. No new infrastructure is required because it uses existing roads and airstrips. Gerenommeerde instituten zoals het Nationaal Lucht- en Ruimtevaartlaboratorium (NLR) en de Technische Universiteit Delft zijn ook betrokken bij de ontwikkeling van de PAL-V. Het rijdende prototype werd al uitgebreid getest in 2009. Nu zijn met het prototype dat rijdt en vliegt de eerste serie testvluchten gemaakt. De PAL-V voldoet aan alle bestaande voorschriften en wettelijke vereisten in alle belangrijke markten. Dat betekent dat het voertuig daar zowel op de weg als in het luchtruim is toegestaan. Voor deze testvluchten werden we al dagelijks benaderd door potentiële klanten en dealers. Deur-tot-deur mobiliteit De PAL-V biedt de gebruiker steeds de keuze tussen vliegen en rijden. Dat betekent een snelle verbinding van deur-tot-deur voor zowel privé personen als voor professionele gebruikers en bedrijven. Het bereik in de lucht is tussen de 350 en 500 kilometer, afhankelijk van het PAL-V type en de belading. Rijdend heeft de PAL-V een bereik van circa 1200 kilometer. De PAL-V rijdt op benzine zoals andere auto’s. Er komen ook uitvoeringen die op biodiesel of bio-ethanol rijden. De PAL-V kan een snelheid bereiken van 180 kilometer per uur, zowel op de weg als in de lucht. Op de weg combineert het aerodynamische, driewielige voertuig het comfort van een auto met de wendbaarheid van een motor, dankzij het unieke gepatenteerde kantel systeem. Rijdend accelereert de PAL-V als een sportauto en neemt bochten als een motor. Vliegend is de PAL-V vergelijkbaar met een standaard gyrocopter. Het toestel is stiller dan een helikopter vanwege de langzamere rotatie van de rotor. De PAL-V stijgt op en landt met lage snelheid, is gemakkelijk te besturen en men kan hem niet overtrekken. De PAL-V is daardoor een van de veiligste vliegtuig types. Een brevet halen, vereist dan ook maar 20 tot 30 uur training. Overheden bereiden zich al voor op een toename van privé vliegen met toestellen zoals de PAL-V. In gesubsidieerde programma’s wordt in de Verenigde Staten en in Europa al gewerkt aan “digitale wegen” in de lucht die men dan volgt op basis van GPS informatie. De technieken hiervoor bestaan en maken een veilige groei van dit type luchtvervoer mogelijk. PAL-V is vastbesloten een leidende rol te spelen in deze groeimarkt. De onderneming PAL-V Europe NV, de onderneming die de PAL-V ontwikkelt, is gevestigd in Raamsdonksveer. Het management bestaat uit een team van Nederlandse ondernemers met expertise in de luchtvaart, de auto-industrie, research en marketing. Renowned institutes such as the Dutch National Aerospace Laboratory and Delft University have also been involved in the development. The driving prototype was fully tested in 2009 and now the flying-driving prototype has made its first flights. The PAL-V complies with existing regulations in all major markets, which means that the vehicle is allowed both in road traffic and in the air. This means fast door-to-door mobility for private individuals as well as professionals and organizations. The flying range will be between 350 (220 miles) and 500 km (315 miles), depending on the type, pay load and wind conditions. Driving, a PAL-V will have a range of about 1200 km (750 miles). It runs on gasoline like a conventional car and there will also be versions that use biodiesel or bio-ethanol. It can reach speeds of up to 180 km/h (110 miles/h) both on land and in the air. On the ground the slim, aerodynamic, 3-wheeled vehicle combines the comfort of a car with the agility of a motorcycle thanks to its patented, cutting-edge, ‘tilting’ system. It is quieter than helicopters due to the slower rotation of the main rotor. It takes off and lands with low speed, cannot stall, and is very easy to control. Thanks to its very short take off and landing capability, it is possible to land a PAL-V practically anywhere.
