MINI-ESTUDIO MINI-STUDIO Por / By FRENTEarquitectura Mexico Mexico, 9 de mayo 2012 – Mediante la utilización de planos trapezoidales y un cuidadoso manejo de la perspectiva, se acentúan las fugas logrando un espacio dinámico y fluido que despierta la imaginación y estimula la creatividad. Este Mini-Estudio, desplantado en tan solo 27m2, se encuentra en un rincón que ocupara un antiguo cuarto de servicio (entre tres construcciones pre-existentes), en el patio trasero de una casa de la colonia Del Valle (Cd. de México). Mexico, May 9, 2012 – Using trapezoidal shapes and with a careful control of perspective, vanishing points are emphasized, achieving a dynamic and fluid space that awakens imagination while stimulating creativity. This Mini-Studio, limited to only 27sqm of footprint, is nested in a small gap originally occupied by a storage-room (between 3 existing constructions), in the backyard of a middle-class house in Mexico City. + Por tratarse de un lugar de trabajo artístico y debido a la orientación sur del terreno, el principal reto consistió en evitar la entrada directa del sol al espacio, sin negar la vista hacia el patio existente. Para lograrlo, el volumen de la planta alta vuela hacia el sur para proyectar sombra sobre el ventanal que, en planta baja, conecta al estudio con el exterior. Las losas inclinadas de la cubierta impiden la incidencia directa de los rayos del sol sobre el área de trabajo, permitiendo la entrada sutil de luz uniforme sobre la doble altura que comunica las dos plantas amplificando el espacio. El mezzanine se apoya ligeramente sobre un muro al fondo del estudio y se lanza hacia el exterior disolviendo el límite marcado por el piso, para terminar suspendido sobre el jardín integrándolo así al espacio; el cancel de la planta baja, por su parte, se abre de lado a lado para borrar por completo la frontera entre interior y exterior. Un pequeño gesto a manera de remate sobre la fachada produce una sombra triangular que cambia de tamaño a lo largo del día, dando movimiento al volumen. FRENTEarquitectura Es un despacho mexicano conformado por jóvenes que hacen en cada ejercicio “Arquitectura Responsable”, entendiendo “respons-able” como la respuesta-hábil a una necesidad específica. Siempre anteponen el análisis de las circunstancias propias de cada proyecto (lugar, gente y tiempo) a su actividad creativa, para poder establecer las necesidades reales a satisfacer. En FRENTE generan arquitectura sencilla e innovadora, de formas claras y conceptos fuertes, logrando que cada obra tenga su propio carácter. FRENTE fue considerado en 2009 como la oficina nacional joven de arquitectura con mayor proyección (año 4, Num. 22, Enero, Revista Ambientes, Editorial Expansión, México) Juan Pablo Maza Nació en la ciudad de México en 1974. En 1997 se graduó de la carrera de Arquitectura y Urbanismo en la Universidad Iberoamericana donde actualmente es docente. Su obra ha sido expuesta en diversos sitios entre los cuales destacan el “Center for Architecture” en Nueva York (2005), la “Bienal de Arquitectura” en Venecia (2008), “Art Basel Exhibition” en Suiza (2009), “MARQ: Museo de Arq. y Diseño” en Buenos Aires (2010) y la “Bienal de Arquitectura Latinoamericana BAL-11” en Pamplona (2011). A lo largo de los años ha colaborado con varios artistas plásticos, entre los cuales destacan: Jorge Yazpik y Adán Paredes. En el 2006 ganó el concurso para la ampliación al Museo Experimental “El Eco” de Mathías Goeritz en colaboración con Fernando Romero y en el 2009 recibió Mención Honorífica en el concurso para el diseño del “Arco Bicentenario” para la Ciudad de México. Desde 2002 dirige “FRENTEarquitectura” y en 2010 funda “FRENTE URBANO Investigación y Propuesta A.C.” con el objetivo de generar alternativas viables que mejoren el entorno y la calidad de vida a través de proyectos urbanos de gran escala. To achieve this, the upper-level volume thrusts itself southward to project its shadow over the large (ground-floor) window that connects the studio with the exterior. The sloped roof slabs block away the sun rays from the working area, allowing the subtle entrance of uniform light over the double-height ceilings which communicate both levels, amplifying the scale. The mezzanine gently rests over a wall at the back of the studio and launches itself towards the exterior dissolving the outline marked by the floor, to end suspended over the garden integrating it to the space. At the same time, the ground-floor glazed door, opens from side to side to completely vanish the border between interior and exterior. A small gesture at the top of the façade produces a size changing triangular shadow throughout the day, providing movement to the volume. FRENTEarquitectura Is a Mexican architectural practice formed by young profesionals whose main goal is to create innovative and “Responsable Architecture”, respons-able meant as the “ability to respond” (to give a clever answer to a specific need). They prioritize the analysis of the specific circumstances of each project (place, people and time) over the creative activity, thus to be able to establish the real needs to be fulfilled. In FRENTE they generate simple architecture, of clear shapes and strong concepts, giving each project its own character.
